WHYC Minutes for 11 November 2010
Meeting was called to order @ 5:21 p.m. with Kim Lowder as the conducting Mayor. There were 17 youth and 4 advisors. A special thanks to Sharon Bolos from the city council for being in attendance.
Pumpkin walk evaluation: Our budget for the pumpkin walk was $1800 and the amount we spent was around $1500. Candy amount for the pumpkin walk was perfect for the amount of people we had (nearly 2500) show up to our yearly event. Pumpkin picking: All agreed that we had enough volunteers to help pick pumpkins.
Setup: We had just enough time to set up except for the fact that a lot of the pumpkins didn't have tops when we were done. All agreed that the Candy Stations added to the walk. There were enough stations. Most agreed that the candy could have been distributed more effectively. We were asked if there was anything else we could have done and Baylee Kendrick suggested a survey. On Cleanup: All agreed that there were enough people to help clean up after.
On Monday November 29, 6 to 8 p.m. Lighting Town Hall: The city would like as many people from the youth council to dress up as elves to work the hayrides & refreshments.
The December service projects that we will be doing this year are. 1. Making white boards for the elementary schools and 2. Visit the residents at a retirement home to do a sing a long for the people in the home.
Our next meeting will be held on December 9 @ 5 p.m. Caden Hess motioned to adjourn this meeting @ 6:00 p.m.
Thanks for all those who participated in the pumpkin walk and I hope to see you next month.

Youth Council presents 2010 Pumpkin Walk at the Country Park

On Monday, October 25th, the West Haven Youth Council sponsored an evening of festivities with the annual Pumpkin Walk. Children were invited to walk an enchanted trail, lit by over 500 softly glowing Jack O' Lanterns.
Council members setup candy display stations along the way for those spirits walking the path and seeking a treat. Council members McKenna & Kaylee were the first station volunteers. The Youth Council appreciates the community service of the students & administration from, Country View Elementary, Rocky Mtn. Jr. High, West Haven Elementary, Quest Academy & Kanesville Elementary. Their support makes the Pumpkin Walk possible. Thank You, Thank You. The Council would like to also thank the adult volunteers for their time & talents.
